A storyteller, journalist, and a professor─ various titles that Kara David is eminent for. While for me, I’ve known her for being a versatile, daring, and genuine reporter. This is how I perceive her and my epitome as an aspiring media practitioner.
Kara David first started her career as a researcher and scriptwriter in television. However, she is now serving the media for more than two decades as a broadcast journalist and a professor of Journalism at the University of the Philippines Diliman for three years.
Given her experience, she’s been an expert in creating a clever and effective style in story-telling. Kara David is quick-witted when it comes to grandiose words in her spiels and standuppers. Her creativity and enthusiasm are what I admired about her, because you can felt what was shown on the screen by only viewing and listening.
Furthermore, with more than 200 documentaries, she’s commendable not only through her words but also her courage in diving into breath-taking situations that give the audience a first-hand experience about the reality no one has ever seen. Being a versatile broadcast journalist is not easy. However, Kara David made it possible because she knows that her first obligation is to the citizen, by unfolding their stories and the truth that everyone needs to see and hear.
